Small Software Co.

Portfolio Log #001

contentcron is live

I shipped contentcron after a substantial final pass across the product and website. That included new screenshots and figures, refreshed copy, Open Graph images, llms.txt, and a screenshot worker running on Fly.io.

The first few days in production surfaced the inevitable small issues. Those are now fixed, and contentcron also gained post-publish webhooks and the ability to rerun the style pass on an article without regenerating the entire draft.

I connected contentcron to Modsignal and use it for its own blog too, so it’s already producing articles for another product in the portfolio.

Running it for real provided much better information about generation costs. I reduced unnecessary use of expensive models and reasoning, then adjusted both pricing tiers to reflect the actual cost of maintaining quality.

The next experiment is integrating DataForSEO. Combining contentcron’s understanding of a company with real keyword and competitor data should produce better article recommendations, not just plausible ones.

contentcron was also submitted to Capterra and G2.

Leadrack launched

Leadrack gained three new ways to discover potential customers this week: SEC filings, news, and Bluesky.

SEC filings can reveal newly funded companies before the announcement reaches the press. The news watcher looks for events such as expansions, executive hires, and new offices. Bluesky adds a more conversational source for finding people discussing the problems a product solves.

After working through a long list of final issues, setting up Google authentication, and completing the production configuration, I launched leadrack.io on Friday. The first live searches are now running. 🎉

Getting it into the hands of real users is the important next step. At this point, Leadrack needs evidence more than it needs more surface area.

Early signs from Modsignal

Modsignal is now connected to contentcron, and I reviewed the first automatically produced articles this week.

Its early Google Search Console data (1-2 weeks in) is encouraging. The site is receiving impressions for exactly the kinds of searches it was built to target. It’s far too soon to draw conclusions, but it’s the right initial signal.

Modsignal was also submitted to Capterra and G2.

Starting Lesstimonial

A new SaaS idea emerged this week and became Lesstimonial.

What began as an experiment quickly developed into a product direction that feels genuinely differentiated. Work has started on both the brand and application, although there’s still plenty to validate before deciding how far to take it.

Small Software Co.

Finally, I added a simple newsletter system to the Small Software Co. website and updated Leadrack’s status from “coming soon” to launched.

This week was heavy on building and shipping. Next week is about watching what happens: where users get stuck, what content earns attention and how quality evolves, whether the economics hold, and which early signals deserve more investment. Also lowkey worried about ingestlayer, which isn't showing the great early results I usually want to see for such an SEO heavy product.
